Carey, a former top fashion model who stands at almost 5'10" she was a favorite of American fashion houses like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father was a prominent scientist and was recognized as the Scientist from 1979 by Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey traveled all over in honor of her father's efforts. She started modeling part time while she was attending the University of Colorado and caught the attention of an agent from the Ford model Agency in New York. She moved to France in 1980 and lived for a short time in Paris as well as Bordeaux before returning home to New York to continue with her studies at the college level and her modeling career. Soon, she was being featured on the cover of Vogue, Glamour, etc. In between her modeling assignments she was also a full-time student who was pursuing a degree of literature from New York University. After graduation, in New York she began to learn about acting. Her part was a minor one in Club Paradise with Robin Williams, in 1986. When she is not working she likes to ski, windsurfing, climbing rocks and whitewater rafting.
